about

Coarbegh came into being as a side-project of Poor Genetic Material, regarded by many as Germany’s best Art-Rock-Band. Coarbegh’s 2013 debut The Colour Of Happiness got excellent feedback from critics and fans alike. However, Coarbegh was never meant to be a band with a fixed line-up, but it would and will always depend on the activities in Poor Genetic Material. At present Coarbegh’s original four-men-and- women line up is down to only two: keyboardist Philipp Jaehne und flutist Pia Darmstaedter. And while the debut album might still be considered as somehow song- oriented, the new album has clearly found its home in the ambient genre. Philipp Jaehne’s electronic pads and colours, rhythms and atmospheres build the frame and canvas for Pia Darmstaedter’s flute and voice. This combination of electronic and acoustic instruments plus the human voice make up for a truly unique blend. The eight tracks of the album hint at an imaginary journey through a night in the Dark Sky Reserve of the remote southwest of Ireland. Just like its predecessor much of the album was recorded there as well.

Their truly original music is characterized by the tension that is created by the interplay of Philipp Jaehne's synthesizers and electronics and Pia Darmstaedter’s flute. ... more
